Frontier Airlines putting temporary ban on checked weapons for flights to D.C. before inauguration – The Denver Post

Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced that it will temporarily ban checked firearms for all flights headed to the Washington, D.C. area.

The rule comes before the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, specifically including Reagan National Airport, Dulles International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Airport.

According to a news release from Frontier, the ban will begin on Jan. 16 and lasts until Jan. 23.

The policy will not apply to law enforcement and military personnel on orders.

Gov. Jared Polis announced that he would send at least 200 National Guard members to Washington to help with security around the inauguration.

Delta Airlines has also announced a similar policy.

This all comes in the wake of the U.S. Capitol breach last week. A mob of people who supported President Donald Trump stormed the building. Five people were killed.

Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives this week for a second time.
