GMB debate: Should Boris Johnson be stripped of all perks?
An ally of Boris Johnson accused Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu of wanting to “bring down him because of Brexit” during a furious clash on today’s Good Morning Britain.
David Campbell Bannerman, the chairman of the Conservative Democratic Organisation, insisted “this is about Brexit” as he rowed with the commentator over the former Prime Minister.
Mr Johnson has sensationally quit as an MP over a report by the Privileges Committee which found he misled Parliament with his Partygate denials.
Mr Campbell Bannerman and Dr Mos-Shogbamimu appeared on GMB to debate if Mr Johnson should be stripped of all perks such as funding to continue running an office as a former premier following his dramatic exit.
The former Conservative MEP said: “I think it’s very unfair and very spiteful actually to try and strip him of all these perks that any other prime minister would get.”

But Dr Mos-Shogbamimu launched into a furious rant, insisting Mr Johnson should be “stripped of everything”.
She said: “Boris Johnson started his political career as a liar, led his career as a liar, and ended his political career as a liar.
“A more unremarkable, untrustworthy, disgraced, two-faced, lying sack of incompetent human fraud we could not have found for a British prime minister.
“His flagrant disregard for the truth, his depraved indifference to the quality of life of the people he’s meant to serve, and his contempt for the values and standards that underpin our democracy are exactly why he should be stripped of everything.”

But Mr Campbell Bannerman accused Dr Mos-Shogbamimu of having a vendetta against Mr Johnson due to Brexit.
He said: “But 14 million people say you’re wrong Shola, they backed him as prime minister.
“This is about Brexit isn’t it? You hate Brexit and you want to bring down Boris because of Brexit.”
Dr Mos-Shogbamimu insisted it has “jack all to do with Brexit”.
She said: “With all due respect, you and I are adults, it’s clear we are both growing older, so please do not come here with an asinine argument and sound delusional.”
Mr Campbell Bannerman said: “I’m trying to get my argument in…”
Dr Mos-Shogbamimu responded: “Your argument makes no sense.”
The pair then began shouting over each other before presenter Kate Garraway was forced to intervene.
It comes after Mr Johnson yesterday accused the Privileges Committee – which he has previously branded a “kangaroo court” – of reaching a “deranged conclusion”.
The cross-party group of MPs led by Labour’s Harriet Harman found he committed “repeated contempts” of Parliament by deliberately misleading the Commons with his Partygate denials before being complicit in a campaign of abuse and intimidation of the committee.
The panel recommended that Mr Johnson should have faced a 90-day suspension had he not already quit his Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat and be banned from holding a pass to access Parliament.
