June Mummery told Express.co.uk that it took her three weeks to get over the post-Brexit fishing terms agreed with the European Union. The former Brexit Party MEP compared the trade agreement to a “crime scene” and praised Michel Barnier and the European Union’s team.
Ms Mummery said: “The negotiations that happened were absolutely amateur.
“It is amateur, it is a crime scene, they did not look at everything.
“They went over there and the wool was pulled completely over their eyes.
“You have got to hand it to Mr Barnier, he is a very clever bloke.
“His team was a better side than ours.”
She continued: “I am disappointed, I am getting over it but it took me three weeks to get over this.
“It was horrific, one of the worst parts of this is that I am a Brexiteer and we are seeing some benefits already, I am ecstatic about that and really happy for us all, but all of a sudden you kind of feel you are on your own.
“Because a lot of Brexiteers are happy with that so you lose some of your support.”
Brexit: Fishermen say deal is ‘lazy’ and a ‘hammer blow’
The former Brexit Party MEP’s dissatisfaction with the fishing terms outlined in the post-Brexit trade deal was echoed in the BBC’s ‘Cornwall: This Fishing Life’ programme.
Several British fishermen lambasted Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal with the European Union as a hammer blow to the UK’s fishing industry.
One fisherman said: “It is not a good win, it is not clawing back a loud of our quota.
“It is enough to be able to put a good soundbite out to make it sound like we are but it is not the case at all.”

Another stated: “The EU has hung the deal on the fact that any changes could incur penalties or tariffs on our exports into Europe so it is going to be very tricky.
“It is a pretty lousy deal, at best it is a minimal deal, at worst it is a disaster.”
A third said: “By now even getting our 12-mile fishing zone, it is just a complete hammer-blow to the whole UK.
“Just to be let down again, is just so wrong.”
