Laura Kuenssberg explained Nicola Sturgeon will not push ahead with an independence referendum straight away as support for independence remains tightly contested with many polls putting each side at 50 percent. The political editor added the Scottish electoral system does not directly compare to Scotland’s population and said despite the SNP’s claim they have a mandate for independence they may not have as much support as they may think. Ms Kuenssberg predicted the SNP will instead focus on domestic issues and push for their independence referendum at the right time as the vote could narrowly go either way.
