2 killed in overnight shooting in southeast Denver

Two people were killed in an overnight shooting in southeast Denver, police said Sunday morning.

Denver police tweeted around 2:50 a.m. Sunday that officers were investigating a shooting in the 9800 block of East Girard Avenue and that one victim had been located with “unknown extent of injuries.”

About 40 minutes later, police tweeted a second shooting victim had been found and taken to an area hospital.

Around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Denver police said, in another tweet, that both victims had been pronounced dead and that the case now was a homicide investigation.

No arrests have been made, and police did not say whether they are searching for a suspect.

The victims’ names will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
