All three people aboard survived a plane crash in rugged terrain in Garfield County Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The aircraft crashed around 2:40 p.m. south of Silt, near the Chair Bar Road, the sheriff’s office said in a release, and a rescue effort was quickly mounted.
Garfield County Search and Rescue reached the crash site by 3:50 p.m., though they were hindered by the rough terrain and conditions on the ground, according to the sheriff’s office.
Two survivors had been removed from the crash site by 4:30 p.m., and work was underway to extricate the final survivor. The sheriff’s office did not say whether the survivors were injured and did not immediately answer a request for more information.
