Aurora Fire Rescue responded to 10 fires in the area of Iliff Avenue and Peoria Street overnight, with two crews putting out blazes in dumpsters, fields and buildings.
A two-story multifamily building in the area of South Racine Way and South Quentin Way was burned in the flames, Aurora Fire Rescue said. The building’s fire displaced 10 people and multiple pets. The American Red Cross is responding to help those who were displaced.
A “person of interest” in connection with the fires has been arrested, but no further details were available, an Aurora Fire Rescue spokesman said. The fires are under investigation, and he declined to say whether officials believe they were started by a serial arsonist.
Another crew responded to fires in the area of East Pacific Circle and South Revere Street.
By 2 a.m., the fires were put out and crews were cleaning up the scene.
No injuries were reported.
