Body of man recovered from Duck Lake in City Park has been identified

The body of a man recovered from Duck Lake in Denver’s City Park on Tuesday evening has been identified.

Joseph Crecelius, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene on the 2300 block of Steele Street, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. An autopsy has been completed and the cause of death is pending further investigation.

The Denver Fire Department Water Rescue Team responded to the park at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, after a witness called to report that a man carrying a bicycle went into the lake and didn’t resurface, said Capt. Greg Pixley, a fire department spokesman. The fire department team recovered the body at about 6:30 p.m.
