A prison guard who was allegedly caught in a sex act with a female inmate has been dismissed, according to reports.

Married Paul Dollard, 33, was reportedly sacked from HMP Edinburgh following a two-hour hearing.

It has been alleged that Mr Dollard was found in an "over-friendly position" with the inmate at the prison where his wife also works.

A source told the ScottishSun: “It was shocking — he had to go.

“Dollard has been incredibly stupid to put himself in that situation. He’s destroyed his career and only has himself to blame.

“It’s incredibly awkward as his wife also works at Saughton.”

Mr Dollard was reportedly suspended on May 1 following the alleged incident.

According to reports, it is alleged he had grown close to the woman, 35, who was on remand and awaiting trial on an attempted murder charge.

She has since been moved to another jail, it has been reported.

According to the report, the incident is alleged to have happened when Dollard's wife was off on leave.

They are understood to have been married for less than a year before the alleged incident.

Another source told the paper: “It was claimed he was found in an over-friendly position with the girl at the door to her cell.

“Any kind of relationship with a prisoner that isn’t strictly business is completely against the rules.”

The Scottish Prison Service has refused to comment on the alleged incident.

When the story first broken earlier this year, a spokesperson had said: “We do not comment on individual members of staff.”
