More than 60 flood warnings and alerts have been issued across the UK after Brits were battered by “heavy rain”. England faces two flood warnings and 60 flood alerts, the Environment Agency has said.
The two warnings, which mean flooding is expected, are in place in Hellingly & Horsebridge and at the North Sea at Roker.
In an update, the Environment Agency said: “Flooding is expected in this area. This means properties are at risk of flooding.
“Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions.
“Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have.”

Flood alerts mean a deluge remains possible.
An additional 18 flood warnings have been removed by the Environment Agency in the last 24 hours.
National Resources Wales also put out an additional two flood alerts.
Carmarthenshire coast and Vyrnwy catchment were identified as areas impacted.
The Met Office’s weather forecast yesterday said: “Rain, some heavy, continuing northwards across northern parts of UK, with some hill snow north of the Central Lowlands.
“Somewhat clearer, milder conditions further south following to most areas, but scattered heavy, blustery showers towards western and southern coasts. Breezy.”
Looking ahead to Christmas Eve, the UK’s national weather service added: “Early rain and hill snow over Scotland slowly clearing northwards.
“Otherwise sunny intervals and showers, some heavy showers, with possible hail and thunder, focused in the west. Mild but windy.”

The UK does not currently face any weather warnings, according to the Met Office.
However, snow and ice warnings have been put in place in parts of Scotland for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
