Colorado Springs police shoot, kill man who allegedly fired on officers

Colorado Springs police shot and killed a man Monday morning after the individual allegedly fired on officers.

Police contacted the individual around 9:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Circle Drive. The man, whose name has not been released, matched the description of an attempted homicide suspect wanted in Mississippi, Colorado Springs police said on its website.

When police found the individual, he allegedly fired at officers, police said. At least one officer returned fire.

The suspect fled before again pointing his handgun at officers in the 400 block of North Circle Drive, police said.

At least one officer shot back, hitting and killing the suspect, according to police.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation into the police shooting.
