A swimmer was reported missing in Chatfield State Park on Friday afternoon and a rescue and dive team is recovering a body from the lake.
The person was reported missing from the park’s swim beach about 3:20 p.m., and the South Metro Fire Rescue Dive Team is searching, according to SMFR.
West Metro Fire Rescue and park rangers assisted in the search and the dive team, which used sonar in the process, is recovering a body from the water, officials said.
At about 5:15 p.m. gusty winds, as part of a passing storm, capsized a rescue boat, SMFR said. All rescue personnel have been accounted for and are safe. A short time after the capsize south metro announced that the search operation is now a recovery effort.
