Donald Trump appeared to awkwardly miss his son's attempt for a hug at a rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin, US.
Footage from the lively rally yesterday, November 2, Donald Trump Jr implores the gathered voters to "make liberals cry again," prompting a laugh from the crowd.
He shouts: "Get out there and do it, Wisconsin!"
While the crowd wave MAGA banners and cheer, Trump Jr then appears to try and hug his dad, moving both his arms on either side of him.
Unfortunately, the 74-year-old US President appears to either not notice or reject the gesture.
With his arms left hanging, Trump Jr appears to pat his dad's back.
The rally footage was widely shared on Reddit and edited with sad violin music in a minor key, receiving more than 59,000 up-votes.
Commentators were divided as to whether it was a genuine attempt at a hug, or if it was a shoulder pat from the get-go.
"I imagine hugging Trump would be like hugging a bag of lukewarm cottage cheese," joked one person.
A second said: "It's debatable as to whether he even went in for a hug."
