Driver spotted watching England game while on motorway pulled over by police

A motorist stunned police by watching England take on Denmark while driving on a motorway.

Central Motorway Policing Group reported on Wednesday night that they had pulled a football fan over after spotting them keep one eye on the Three Lions at Wembley.

The unit took to Twitter to acknowledge the importance of England's Euro 2020 semi-final clash but reminded followers that sitting behind the wheel was not exactly the safest place to enjoy it.

According to CMPG officers which is a dedicated team that patrols major routes in the UK, reported the distracted driver on the M6, GloucestershireLive reports.

A CMPG spokesman said: "We know that tonight is an important night for football and everyone wants to watch the game.

"But watching it on a tablet while driving along the M6 is not the way."

England have made their way into the Euro 2020 final at Wembley on Sunday against Italy in dramatic fashion.

Harry Kane found the back of the net for England in the first half of extra-time against Denmark by tapping in his saved penalty to put the Three Lions 2-1 ahead and secure their return under the arch.

That followed England cancelling out Mikkel Damsgaard's stunning freekick thanks to a Simon Kjær own goal in the firt half.

It comes as England fans packed out pubs hours before kick-off in anticipation of the huge Euro 2020 semi-final with Denmark.

The game at Wembley kicked-off until 8pm but many fans took their seat at pubs, bars and fan parks hours in advance.
