A pair of urban explorers claimed to have snuck onto Jeffrey Epstein’s private island – and filmed it all.
Little Saint James, off the US Virgin Islands, was owned by the convicted sex offender up until his death in 2019.
Before he died, Epstein was accused of trafficking underage girls to the island for sex which saw it acquire the nicknames “orgy island”, “island of sin” and “paedophile island”.
It has been abandoned since then but, in 2020, urban explorer Andy Bracco and his friend Jon Megan decided to get ashore.
Footage shared to his YouTube and Instagram seems to show them posing in front of the infamous blue and white “temple” atop a hill.
They claimed that, at 6.30am, they were “nearly compromised” and filmed themselves running away from the building – although it is not clear what from.
But the duo returned “12 hours later” in daylight. They managed to get inside a green shed-like building which seemed to be providing power to the island.
And Andy and Jon also filmed a snippet inside the blue and white building – which clearly had not been disturbed for several months. It also bizarrely seemed to have a fake door.
Andy, otherwise known as Place Hacker, told the Sun last year that there was “active security” patrolling the area.
“We got pretty lucky,” he said. “But we planned it a few months ahead, spoke to locals and we knew what we were dealing with.
“I wouldn't suggest anyone go there unless you really know what you are doing.”
The explorer admitted he was rather disappointed by what he saw on the island, especially the “temple” which had its roof blown away.
“It's very strange to know how much money this guy had to see such a low quality of a structure there,” he added.
It has never been known exactly why Epstein built the mysterious temple, but theories abound that it could lead to an underground sex dungeon or is in some way religious.
Downhill from the building lies another smaller structure and some speculate they could both be linked by an below-surface tunnel of some sorts.
And the mystery behind the temple increased further in 2019 when Business Insider spoke to contractor James Both, who said there appears to be a reinforcing lock bar across the face of the entrance which suggest it was intended to “lock people in”. Although, in the YouTuber's video, it appears the door is fake.
Andy and Jon aren’t the only ones to have shown an interest in Little Saint James since Epstein’s death.
The island has become a tourist attraction following its former owner’s death.
One visitor previously told Fox News they were desperate to “see where Satan lived”.
Epstein also reportedly had a fascination with animals and several life-size plastic cows have been spotted around the island in the past.
The billionaire financier was found unresponsive in his jail cell in New York where he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges on August 10, 2019.
