A furious Premier League star has blamed "chavvy scummy b**tards" after his car window was smashed during a night out.

Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald shared a picture on his Instagram of his Range Rover with its window smashed in.

The car was parked up on the corner of Pavilion Road and Pavilion Street in the swanky central London neighbourhood of Knightsbridge, around three miles from Fulham's Craven Cottage home.

Pictures shared on McDonald's Instagram story from earlier in the night show he was out celebrating an early birthday party for Aston Villa defender Matt Targett.

It isn't known if the 31-year-old Scottish ace, who has made 116 appearances for the Cottagers since joining from Wolves back in 2016, called the police.

McDonald made just 16 appearances for Fulham last season but was seen celebrating wildly on the bench when Joe Bryan scored twice to send Scott Parker's men to the Premier League at the expense of west London rivals Brentford.

He was not on the bench for last Saturday's opening game of the season which saw the newly-promoted side thumped three-nil at home to Arsenal thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

This isn't the first time Premier League stars have been the victims of crime in the capital in recent months.

Earlier this year, Daily Star Online reported top footballers were being targeted by Chilean crime gangs travelling 7,500 miles to rob them.

The thieves have struck a number of homes in London, as well as in parts of the north.

South American gangs have been linked to at least eight burglaries in the so-called "Golden Triangle" of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury in Cheshire, home to dozens of multi-millionaire footballers from Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City.

In May this year, Spurs star Dele Alli was robbed at knifepoint at his £2m north London mansion.

The Three Lions ace had been in lockdown with his brother Harry Hickford as well as their respective partners and a longterm friend when the home was broken into.

The thugs left Alli, 24, with minor facial injuries after punching and threatening him, before making off with items of jewellery and luxury watches.

In a message thanking fans for their well-wishes after the attack, Alli wrote on Twitter: "Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we're all okay now. Appreciate the support."

Last December, Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho had items worth a reported £500,000 stolen from his mansion in southwest London.

The Frenchman was away with his family ahead of the Eagle's clash with Southampton when the break-in happened.
