A plasterer missed out on landing a £1million EuroMillions pot after his girlfriend swapped his normal numbers without telling him.
Jacob Simon, 32, would have landed the prize on Friday, when there was a record £175million pot.
His regular choices would have matched all five main numbers as well as one of the two lucky stars.
But he missed it after nurse Chantelle Avossa, 29, changed them to a lucky dip as his normal picks hadn’t proved lucky this year.
They did not win anything from the dip.
Jacob, of Leicester, admitted he feels “sick” and says the couple have fallen out a bit, the Sun reports.
If he had won, he would have shared a total of £7.5million with six European winners.
It would have seen him pocket £1,071,420.
He told the Sun: "I feel sick. The more I think about it the more I can't believe it. We haven't slept at all. We've fallen out a bit.
"I wasn't watching the draw but my girlfriend said, 'You are going to kill me. Our numbers have come up but I changed them'.

"I thought she was joking. It didn't sink in until later.”
The highest amount any British player secured was £9,243 for five numbers, with the pot rolling over to Tuesday.
He said he was happy the win wasn’t multi millions as he would have found that galling.
But he added it was still a nice dream, as he could have been a millionaire.
A year ago, they chose the numbers 14, 20, 27, 34, 38, with lucky stars 2 and 11.
The couple had stayed with the same picks until last week.
During Friday’s draw, every number except 2 came up.
