This is the shocking moment a woman throws a glass at a stranger and glasses him in the face in an unprovoked attack.
Katie Murphy, 30, avoided jail as she was sentenced to 30 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months following the incident on October 10, 2020.
CCTV inside the Masquerade Bar on Cumberland street in Liverpool shows Murphy emerging from the crowd and approaching the victim, Joseph Walker, who is drinking with his mates at the corner.
She tosses her drink at Joseph, spilling the beer and hitting the glass in his face.
The glass shatters into pieces and Joseph is seen bleed profusely. He was left with a jagged wound.
Murphy turns around and leaves the bar while a few other drinkers watch on in shock.
Joseph was left with permanent scar on the face, with four internal stitches and 10 external stitches above his right eye, according to Liverpool Echo.
In his victim statement, he said: "I still don't know why it was me she did it to. Maybe it was mistaken identity, maybe she just didn't like the look of me.
"The injury was very close to my eye and it could have been a lot worse."
Mike Hagerty, defending, said Murphy accepted the victim of her attack was "wholly innocent".
"The defendant has a significant mental health problem, including a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, which is exacerbated by the use of drugs and alcohol. She has expressed regret and is remorseful," he added.
Judge Recorder Richard Leiper QC told Murphy she had caused serious harm to Mr Walker by using the equivalent of a weapon.
He sentenced Murphy to 30 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
During that time, she was ordered to undergo a mental health and a drug rehabilitation programme, along with 120 hours of unpaid work.
