Christmas can be stressful for families at the best of times – but this year’s festive period marks a particularly tense reminder of a traumatic moment for one mum more than most, after she infamously saw her home wrecked by a ‘Grinch’.
Belfast mum Laura Magill had reportedly paid £85 to have the fictional Dr Suess character – famed for his mean-tempered attitude, destructive nature and hatred for Christmas – come to her house to perform for her kids last year.
The entertainer was hired to mess up beds, throw a bit of toilet paper on the tree and pose for pictures.

But the rogue festive entertainer allegedly went much further than that and apparently destroyed the contents of a buffet and damaged numerous items of property after entering her home.
Laura posted photos showing the aftermath of the chaotic rampage to Facebook, with snaps of the trashed room quickly going viral.
Describing the damage, she wrote: "Every bit of party food (and) expensive cupcakes threw all over the place, tree decorations broke.
"Fairy (washing) up liquid poured on my kitchen floor, eggs smashed and a full bottle of juice poured over my floor and son."
In response to the original post, Santa Stop Here Belfast, which sent out the character, shared a snap of the Grinch and added: “We hope you see the funny side.”

A spokesperson for the company said the viral Facebook post had led to a huge rise in interest for their niche service.
They explained: “The homeowner’s sister hired us and was told in advance what was involved prior to the visit.
“We’ve done 30 visits this year with no complaints. We have been doing this for three years in total.
“Our Grinch is loving the attention – we’ve had hundreds of booking enquiries today. The Grinch also knew them personally – but hasn’t told them who was below the mask yet!”
