The President-elect made a triumph statement as he introduced his national security team. Mr Biden stated that the United States will prioritise allyship as the nation looks to return to its “historic position” as a global leader.

Mr Biden said: “It is a team that will keep our country and our people safe and secure.

“It is a team that reflects the fact that America is back, ready to lead the world not retreat from it, to once again sit at the head of the table.

“Ready to confront our adversaries and not reject our allies, ready to stand up for our values.

“In fact, in calls I have had from world leaders I have been struck by how much they are looking forward to the United States reasserting its historic role as a global leader both in the pacific and the Atlantic, all across the world.

“This team behind me embody my core beliefs that America is strongest when it works with its allies.

“Collectively this team has secured some of the most defining security and diplomatic achievements in recent memory.”

Despite Mr Biden’s triumph rallying call as he announced his new team, some viewers took to social media to share their concerns.

One Twitter user said: “Pure showmanship. While you’re at it Biden give them an Oscar the way you spoke about them, are they superheroes?”

Another tweeted: “I’ve never heard such a dull speaker in my life.

“He has no presence at all.

“Please don’t fill my screen with this dishwater again.”
