Vladimir Putin shocked the West announcing he would conscript Russian civilians as the war in Ukraine rages on.
In a worrying speech this morning Russian dictator announced that the new recruitswould be sent off to war as early as today, with the partial mobilisation decree having already been signed.
Putin announced he would use "all means necessary" against the those trying to "subjugate" the nation, including the "neo-nazis" in Ukraine.
As his speech came to an end he threatened: "I'm not bluffing."
He then reminded the West that his country had nuclear capabilities and claimed his action was necessary to protect Soviet "liberated lands".
"That's why I asked the ministry of defence to agree to 'partial mobilisation,'" he said.
All citizens sent off to fight will have full armed forces status and receive the same benefits, he claimed.
This comes amid reports that the war in Ukraine has taken a turn for the worse for Putin.
Kyiv has regained control of the entire region of Kharkiv in recent days, with Russian troops removed from more than 6000 square km of land across the besieged nation.
