A 52-year-old man died inside the federal prison in Littleton Saturday and a second inmate was taken to a hospital for treatment during the incident, according to a news release from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Warren Morgan was found “unresponsive” inside the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Englewood in Jefferson County, the agency said in the release. The statement did not say how the man died, but said staff unsuccessfully attempted to save his life. A second prisoner was also found unresponsive during the incident was taken to a hospital for further treatment.

A bureau spokeswoman declined to answer questions Sunday about what happened to the second inmate or offer any details on how Morgan died.

The news released noted that no staff were injured and there was never any danger to the public. FCI Englewood is a low-security prison that houses just under 1,000 male prisoners.

Morgan had been in prison since May 2021 and was serving a three-year sentence for violating the conditions of his supervised release.
