Piers Morgan's war on Meghan Markle continues to rumble on this week with the ex-Good Morning Britain presenter penning almost 7,000 words on the duchess and his ITV exit.
His explosive vitriol-laden account in the Mail on Sunday saw him describe Meghan and husband Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey as "disgraceful betrayal".
He added that after watching it he was "angry to the point of boiling over" as well as "sickened".
So it's hard to believe that Piers and Meghan were actually once on good terms and even met up for drinks at one of his favourite pubs.
They apparently discussed a number of topics, including debating then-President Donald Trump, with Piers saying Meghan enjoyed Dirty Martinis while he sipped pints.
He previously said of their evening together in 2016: "She said 'I'm in town, do you want to meet up?'
"I said yes – come to my local pub for a pint.
"It was very funny, there were five locals and talk about eyes popping when she came in.
"She had Dirty Martinis – the vodka ones – and I had a couple of pints."
But after that rendezvous, he claims former Suits actress Meghan went cold on him.
"She met Prince Harry at the dinner that night, went on a solo date with him the next night, and I never heard from her again," Piers said.
"Not a word. I’d been ghosted. Next thing I know: silence. Off the radar. I blame Harry. He has stopped me getting those new episodes of Suits."
Their friendship had begun a year earlier, when Meghan private messaged Piers on Twitter on her now-deleted @meghanmarkle account and said: "Well hello there – thanks for the follow. Big fan of yours!"
They would then trade "funny images," according to Piers, before they eventually met.
But unamused by Meghan 'ghosting' him, Piers shared a screenshot of the message in January last year and said: "In happier times… when Meghan first slid into my DMs… think it’s fair to say she’s probably not such a ‘big fan’ of mine now."
'Oprah failed to ask Meghan Markle and Harry three key questions we all want to know'
Meanwhile, his current opinions on Meghan are a stark contrast to the praise he once heaped on her when her engagement to Harry was announced.
At the time he said: "My take on her was she's very beautiful, she's very intelligent, she's 35, she's been divorced, her dad's white her mum's black and she had some problems with that growing up.
"I was really impressed I thought she was a very nice woman, very suited to Harry and different, biracial, an actress."
But the 56-year-old is now one of her fiercest critics with his views on Meghan, 39, leading to him quit Good Morning Britain.
Last month Piers stormed off the set when weatherman Alex Beresford confronted him over his treatment of Meghan, particularly as she had laid bare her struggles and talked about feeling so low that she felt suicidal.
Prince Philip's savage six words in royal surname row – and why he's not King
Alex said: "I understand that you do not like Meghan Markle and you have made it clear so many times – so many times on this programme.
"And I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She is entitled to cut you off if she wants to.
"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? Now, I do not think she has. But yet you continue to trash her."
Piers fumed "I’m done with this" before leaving the studio.
Meghan Markle baby announcement blunder with Palace issuing apology
He refused to apologise for his comments that sparked more than 41,000 complaints.
ITV later released a statement saying: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
Piers later said: "On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.

"Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."
Meghan, who is pregnant with a girl, went on to lodge her own complaint with regulator Ofcom.
An Ofcom spokesman said: “We can confirm receipt of a standards complaint made on behalf of the Duchess of Sussex.”
Meanwhile, Piers' wife Celia Walden has also gone on to take aim at Meghan and revealed the catty nickname she has for the Duchess.
