A motorcyclist died early Tuesday morning after crashing on Interstate 70 and being shot, according to Denver police.
Police could not say Tuesday whether he died from injuries sustained in the crash or from being shot.
The incident was first reported as a single-vehicle crash at about 12:20 a.m. on eastbound I-70 at Colorado Boulevard, according to police. But after arriving at the scene, authorities discovered the man had also been shot.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he died. He has not been publicly identified.
A Denver police spokesperson declined to answer additional questions about the incident Tuesday, citing the early stages of the investigation, and it was not clear whether the motorcyclist was shot while driving or before getting on the motorcycle.
The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
