Indonesia's Mount Semeru has erupted sending residents fleeing from a huge 'ash plume.'

The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center has issued a warning after a volcanic ash plume that rose up to an estimated 40000ft, raining down on the residents below.

A video has since emerged on Twitter showing residents running from the mountain as huge grey clouds have come billowing from the top.
