Prince Harry and Meghan’s popularity plummets in wake of Prince Philip’s death

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity in the UK plummeted in the wake of their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, a new poll has suggested.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s accusations of racism within the Royal Family appear to have hurt their relationship with the British public.

Meghan and Harry's YouGov approval rating dropped by a combined 8 points within the last six weeks, with Harry taking a hit of 3 following with funeral of Prince Philip.

Suits star Meghan dropped a total of 5 points alone, while Prince William and Kate Middleton remain popular with Brits.

Prince Charles enjoyed a sharp rise in popularity, along with his son Prince Edward who is rumoured to be preparing himself to take on a bigger role within the Firm.

Following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, who was a much-loved Royal himself, the Queen saw a sharp boost in support.

Her Majesty's popularity rose from 80% in the poll to 85%, cementing her position as Britain's most popular royal.

Prince Andrew is still the least popular royal, with 79% of those asked holding a negative view, according to the Poll.

Meghan and Harry had, at one stage, been popular members of the Royal Family, but their approval rating took a nose-dive after they announced their decision to step down as senior members of the Firm back in January 2020.

Since then, the couple's Hollywood moves have been widely talked about, with some suggesting the pair are using the situation to their advantage.

Harry and Meghan even signed a deal with U.S. streaming giant, Netflix, and are said to be releasing a podcast with Spotify.

Most recently, the couple spoke their truth in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the chat, Meghan told Oprah she had been shocked to hear that Harry had been asked about the colour of Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's skin tone prior to his birth.

Harry also claimed his father, the Prince of Wales, cut his and Meghan's security off while they were in Canada, and added that their communication is almost non-existent.

The Duke of Sussex also touched on his relationship with his brother, stating at the time that it is in a place of "space," but the pair have since reunited, sparking hopes of a reconciliation.
