Prince Harry "never forgave: his brother William for not rooting for his relationship with Meghan Markle, royal experts have claimed.
The Duke of Cambridge had tried to talk his brother in a bid to get him to "slow things down" when Harry and Meghan got engaged after being together for less than a year.
In a new Channel 5 documentary William & Harry: Princes at War, which will be aired on Saturday night, royal experts detailed how Harry's love relationship was fuelled with caution by his brother.
Katie Nicholl, royal correspondent at Vanity Fair, revealed: "I remembered being told that William had had a conversation with Harry around the time of the engagement, [he] just made it very clear to him that he [Harry] didn't have to rush into anything, let him know that he and Meghan had all the time in the world.
Do you think William and Harry's relationship will heal over time? Let us know in the comments.
"Harry had always suspected that William wasn't completely behind the relationship from the outset – that was the root of the problems. That was when those seeds of discontent were sowed and you know, Harry never really forgave his brother for that."
The heated discussions have left Harry infuriated, as royal commentator Emily Andrews added: "He went ballistic. He said 'You were trying to wreck this relationship before it even started'."
Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, felt it was natural that William and his wife Kate Middleton would think if Meghan could make Harry happy.
"William and Kate didn't have a moment to get to know Meghan because Harry hardly knew Meghan," she added.
"Naturally William and Kate would have thought 'Oh Meghan's been married before, she's older than Harry. I hope she's going to make him happy.
"Anyone would think that."
Broadcaster Carole Malone believed the biggest cause of the rift between the brothers was William tried to warn Harry "not to rush into things" when he met Meghan.
"He'd only known her for less than a year before they got engaged. He sat him down and told him to take it a bit slow, not to run either," she said.
