Princess Eugenie copying Harry and Meghan with photo of son, royal fans say

Royal fans believe Princess Eugenie is ‘copying’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry by deciding not to reveal the face of her son August.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex rarely show their children off and when they do, the faces are partially covered.

Eugenie recently shared a new photograph of her son August to mark his first birthday with his face away from the camera.

The cute snaps show August, nicknamed Augie by mum, with Eugenie and his dad Jack Brooksbank in snowy mountains.

While the second photo appears to show August at a playgroup with his name written on a sticker that has been placed onto his back.

Eugenie wrote a message along with the photos which read: "Happy 1st Birthday to our little hero Augie.

“You are such a special soul that brightens every room with your smile and wave. You have made us so very proud. We love you!"

However, the selection of images has prompted royal fans to compare her approach to her son’s privacy to the protocol of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Both parents' strict rules on photographs of their children are different from those of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who have regularly shared photographs of their children through official channels.

Royal fans on Twitter were divided by the photographers but most were happy to see Eugenie follow Meghan and Harry by shielding their faces.

One user said: “I love how #PrincessEugenie has followed suit and takes the same types of photos as #HarryandMeghan. They don’t have to parade their child to the public, so they choose not to. I think that’s a great choice!”

Another commented: “Eugenie taking tips from H&M on how to keep her child out of the spotlight.”

As another wrote: “From a safety point, they have to protect his identity, they do not have the security team that W&K has.”

However, some questioned why show the image without a face while comparing how often we see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children.

Another user tweeted: “Why show Pictures of back of head (sic)? Our Future King Kiddies we see face on(sic), playing, enjoying time. Yet kiddies of less important Royals they hide.”

While one other user said: “If they don’t want to share photos of their children showing their faces, why bother posting pics at all?”
