Queen branded hypocrite for stripping Harry of titles but not Prince Andrew

The Queen has been accused of being a hypocrite for allowing Prince Andrew to cling onto his military titles.

On the back of 'Megxit' which saw Prince Harry step down as a senior member of the Royal Family, he was stripped of several honours including being the patron for Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League.

His wife Meghan Markle also had her roles of patron of The Royal National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, taken away.

Prince Andrew denies all legal wrong-doing but he remains embroiled in a sex scandal that led to the imprisonment of his former friend and convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

Royal expert Daniela Esla believes the monarch's son retaining his titles but grandson not, is evidence of double standards.

Writing for News.com.au, Ms Elsa said: "Turns out, in the royal family you can pal around with a paedophile and still be deemed worthy of holding titles including being the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a Vice-Admiral in the Navy, Commodore in Chief of the Navy’s Fleet Air Arm and Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps.

"Ah yes, what makes more sense than leaving a man accused of having sex with a teenager as the honorary head of a corps that works with 15,000 young people across the UK between the ages of 10 and 18?

"To my mind, it is a stain on the Queen’s legacy that she has allowed her son to retain this swath of commands for so long."

A woman who claims she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew last week issued legal proceedings against the Duke of York.

Virginia Giuffre, who lives in Australia, alleges that while under the age of 18 years old she was abused by the senior royal while at disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan home and at another location.

Prince Andrew, 61, has always emphatically denied the allegations by Giuffre, even appearing on BBC Newsnight in 2019 to answer questions regarding any involvement in her abuse.

During the interview, he said: "I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever. It just never happened."

In a later statement, Prince Andrew said: "I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein."

The Telegraph reported on Monday that inside the royal family there have been "tentative discussions about a wider reshuffle of the royals’ military roles."

Elsa commented: "Tentative”? What the dickens are they waiting for?

"This comes after it was reported over the weekend that the scandal-plagued royal would probably not be allowed to take part in next year’s Trooping the Colour.

"What makes this situation even more maddening is not just the Queen’s inaction on this front but the fact that Andrew has managed to, thus far, hang onto his appointments while Prince Harry was swiftly stripped of his beloved military roles earlier this year.

"How could the Queen have been so totally hypocritical as to strip Harry of his military roles when he stepped down as a working member of the royal family but not Andrew?

"To this day, there has never been a skerrick of a hint that Andrew, also having quit working royal life, might have to relinquish using his HRH.

"The hypocrisy of it all just takes my breath away."
