London, south east England, south west England and the east of England is now covered in a red wind warning causing significant disruptions and “dangerous conditions”.

The red warning, which is in place from 7am until noon, warns residents of flying debris resulting in “danger to life, as well as damages to buildings from the intense gales.

The Met Office has warned Britons the powerful storm is likely to uproot trees and bring power lines down, causing travel chaos today.

The Midlands is covered with an amber wind warning, while the north and the majority of Scotland has a less severe yellow warning.
