Video released by Flagler County Sheriff's Office shows the 17-year-old chasing after the teacher, who turns and stalls for a second before being thrown to the ground.

The school employee faceplants with no response as the student continues to pummel her more than a dozen times on her head and body.

The attack lasts 25 seconds until several students and staff get him off the teacher.

According to the arrest report, the student spat in the direction of the teacher after the attack and allegedly said: "I'm going to kill her."

"The actions of this students are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled for.

"We hope the victim will recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident."

Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt added: "Creating a safe learning and working environment on our campuses is critical.

"Violence is never an appropriate reaction."

The teacher was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.

The 17-year-old was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Volusia County School officials issued a statement after the incident, stating: "The safety and security of our students and staff is of utmost importance to us and we will continue to cooperate fully with the local authorities as part of this investigation."
