Thugs wearing Scream masks from horror movie sexually assault woman cyclist

A woman was subjected to a terrifying sexual assault by two men wearing “Ghostface” masks from the Scream horror movie franchise.

The woman was cycling on the evening of Wednesday, October 19, on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull when she was grabbed and then sexually assaulted by the two men.

Humberside Police are now searching for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or may have caught the offenders on dashcam footage or CCTV.

Humberside Police say the woman was approached at around 7pm by two men who, she says, were both wearing the terrifying masks made famous by the 1996 horror movie and its various sequels.

"It has been reported that the woman was riding her bike when she was stopped by two men described as being around 6ft tall, wearing ‘Scream’ masks and black clothing," a spokesperson for the force said.

"One grabbed her bike and stopped her from moving forward while the second man sexually assaulted her.

"A car passed by, and the two men fled, jumping over a low wall before running away."

If you were in the area at the time and witnessed anything, or if you have dash cam footage that could help with the investigation, please call Humberside Police on non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 22000083461.

Anybody who has been the victim of a sexual assault, past or present, is always encouraged to come forward and report it to the police.

The shocking assault echoes a similar attack that took place in Greater Manchester back in 2014.

In that case four men pounced on a defenceless woman on Halloween night, pushing her to the ground and assaulting her, leaving her in a state of “total shock”.

Superintendent Neil Evans said at the time: “This young woman has suffered a traumatic ordeal at the hands of four individuals who were dressed in Halloween-type masks.

“Anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault will know just how frightening it must have been for this victim, and given the offenders were wearing masks designed to be scary means it must have been a truly harrowing and scary few minutes for this woman."
