Trump: William Barr resigns as US attorney general
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff – once a close friend of Mrs Trump – made the claim in an episode of The New Abnormal podcast hosted by the Daily Beast. She also launched an attack on the wider Trump family as a whole, referring to them as “self-serving”.
The claim is only the latest by Ms Winston Wolkoff who has become a prominent critic of Melania Trump this year despite her previously close relationship to Donald Trump’s wife.
Ms Winston Wolkoff went so far as to publish a book – Melania and Me – on her time as a close aide to Mrs Trump in the earlier days of the Trump administration.
Melania Trump herself has blasted the book and Ms Winston Wolkoff’s claims as “idle gossip trying to distort my character”.

Ms Winston Wolkoff has continued to speak out about the First Lady and the Trump family, and told The New Abnormal recently: “The princess wanted to render Melania irrelevant. And you know, Melania refers to them as ‘snakes,’ Jared and Ivanka, and they’ll do anything to get what they want. And they do.”
Ms Winston Wolkoff claimed Ivanka Trump set out to “poach” White House officials such as current press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Mercedes Schlapp – whom Melania already had her eye on.
The Trump insider continued: “We called [Ivanka] the serial poacher. It was deceptive. But you don’t go and hire people that the First Lady’s looking to bring in.”

She also referred to Ivanka Trump as “Donald in a suit” and attacked the wider Trump family as a whole, calling them “authentically and unapologetically skin-deep, and also self-serving”.
The podcast episode is one of two parts, with the second due out next week.
Ms Winston Wolkoff’s reports of tensions between Ivanka and Melania Trump are not the first.

She has previously written that the First Lady sought to distance herself from her daughter-in-law and was also keen to prevent Ivanka from getting too involved in Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration.
Melania has hit out at Ms Winston Wolkoff’s claims against her.
In a statement issued to the White House website in October this year, the First Lady did not name her former aide specifically but referred to “a former contractor who advised my office”.
She wrote: “This is a woman who secretly recorded our phone calls, releasing portions from me that were out of context, then wrote a book of idle gossip trying to distort my character.
“Never once looking within at her own dishonest behaviour and all in an attempt to be relevant.
“Once again, outlets chose to focus their coverage on pettiness over my positive work.
“There are plenty of opportunists out there who only care about themselves, and unfortunately seek to self-aggrandize by knowingly taking advantage of my goodwill.”
The Trump family are due to make an exit from the White House next year when Mr Trump is formally replaced as President of the United States.
Mr Trump, 74, lost the US presidential election to Democratic rival Joe Biden, 78, last month.
Mr Biden is due to be inaugurated on January 20, along with Vice President Kamala Harris.
