Fears over a fourth wave of coronavirus have begun to spread in the USA as one of the country’s top medical official warned of an “impending doom” if rising cases are not brought under control. Center for Disease Control (CDC) boss Dr Rochelle Walensky gave a blunt warning to her fellow Americans on CBS News calling on them to continue to follow strict public health measures while the US vaccine programme continues to rollout.
Dr Walensky said: “I am going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom.
“So much reason for hope but right now I am scared.
“So I am speaking today not really as your CDC Director but as a wife as a mother as a daughter to ask you to just please hold on a little while longer.
It comes as coronavirus cases in the US have risen more than 10 per cent with the numbers in hospital also on the rise.
