William snubbed Kate at 21st birthday party and spoke to old flame expert says

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for 11 years and have three children together – but things haven't always been easy for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

A notable low came early in the couple's relationship at Prince William's 21st birthday party while the pair were dating in secret.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, William "snubbed" Kate and decided to only pay attention to an ex-girlfriend who had travelled especially for the celebrations, Mirror reports.

As well as this, the prince had lied in an interview before the party and claimed he was completely single.

In her 2010 book William and Harry, Katie writes: "When William attended Kate's belated 21st birthday in June 2003 at her family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, the glance she threw him across the room when he walked into the 1920s-themed party was beyond platonic."

But this allegedly did not continue at William's own 21st party just a few weeks later.

The author continued: "Then at William's party at Windsor Castle later that month, it seemed as though Kate was barely registering on William's radar."

The Duke of Cambridge allegedly spent most of his time focused on his old flame Jecca Craig, who he first met on a trip to Kenya in 1998.

On top of all this, Kate was positioned far away from the action while William had seated Jecca on the head table.

Jecca had reportedly been Will's first love but courtiers have insisted they were just friends.

Katie added: "Kate didn't know whether they had been romantically involved or not, but she noted that Jecca had been seated at the head table next to William, whereas Kate had to raise her glass to toast the prince from afar."

Despite this hiccup, things all turned out beautifully in the end and Jecca attended Kate and William's wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

William also flew out to Kenya five years later to watch his ex marry Zoological Society expert Professor Jonathan Baillie.
