Gruesome footage has been taken in Haiti reporting to show the burning bodies of several young men who were apparently stopped while carrying weapons. The video has been circulating online amid widespread reports of intense gunfire in various areas of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince.
According to some accounts, there have been incidents of arson involving houses and cars.
Additionally, a number of individuals were reportedly killed in front of a police station located in the Canapé Vert district of Haiti.
He added: “This was the least graphic video I was sent”
According to the WFP’s Haiti director, Jean-Martin Bauer, the current situation represents the worst on record, with the country sliding into a hunger emergency.
He told the Guardian: “These are the worst conditions on record,
“Food insecurity in Haiti has been going downhill and Haiti is sliding into a hunger emergency.”

The UN organisation has estimated that acute hunger has affected 4.9 million Haitians, who have been finding it increasingly challenging to buy sufficient food since the assassination of the country’s president, Jovenel Moïse, in July 2021.
As a result of the ensuing violence and lawlessness, much of the country has fallen under the control of rival armed groups, leading to a collapse of the economy, soaring inflation rates of up to 49.3 per cent, and limited access to food and water.
Mr Bauer said: “It is critical that life-saving food assistance keeps reaching the most vulnerable Haitians and resilience and safety-net initiatives continue being prioritised so we can address the root causes of hunger.”
During a recent hearing of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, Pascale Solages, co-founder of Haitian feminist group Nègès Mawon, stated that rape and sexual violence are being used as tools of terror.
According to Solages, her organization has received reports of over 650 cases of rape in just one part of the capital since May of last year.
In another report released by the UN on Tuesday, it was revealed that since January, 531 people have been shot dead and 277 have been kidnapped by gangs.
These gangs are extending their control over the Artibonite Department, a large central Haitian region known for its rice production. The resulting turf wars in this important agricultural area will likely worsen hunger in the country.
