<\/p>\nBack-yard breeders are selling XL Bullies abroad on encrypted apps before the UK ban hits.<\/p>\n
The dangerous dogs are being shipped to Spain, America and Mexico after a spate of lethal maulings. The Daily Star Sunday has seen several Telegram channels set up specifically to flog the animals. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced an upcoming ban after the breed was deemed responsible for around 70% of dog-related killings between 2021 and 2023.<\/p>\n
The dogs are going for anything from \u00a32,000 to \u00a36,000. One seller posted on his channel: \u201c9 week old bullies ready to go.\u201d Another said: \u201cXl Bullies for sale from UK. Inbox for prices. Must go.\u201d A breeder in Manchester told us: \u201cWe can\u2019t take any chances because if the ban comes in as expected. Were going to lose a serious amount of money so we have to get rid now.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s huge demand and as long as you\u2019ve got a decent courier and delivery service, you can get them to buyers pretty much anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bullies have been linked to 10 deaths, including three children, since 2021. Father-of-two Ian Price, 52, died after being attacked by two dogs believed to be XL Bullies which jumped out of his neighbour\u2019s window in the village of Stonnall, Staffordshire, earlier this month.<\/p>\n

And when footage of a dog believed to be an XL Bully attacking people in Birmingham, including an 11-year-old girl who suffered serious injuries, went viral, Home Secretary Suella Braverman promised action. She said: \u201cThey are terrorising our communities and pose a particular threat to children. It must end.\u201dThe Home Secretary branded XL bully dogs \u201ca clear and lethal danger\u201d as she moved to outlaw them in this country. <\/p>\n

She tweeted: \u201cThe American XL bully is a clear and lethal danger to our communities, particularly to children. We can\u2019t go on like this. I have commissioned urgent advice on banning them.\u201d<\/p>\n
XL Bullies received recognition as a breed from the US United Kennel Club in 2013 but they are not recognised by the main dog associations in the UK. The gene base for all four sizes of American Pit Bull Terrier, which is bred with a number of other dogs to build a stockier, more heavily muscled animal.<\/p>\n
