Killers six-word confession to stabbing girlfriend after demons told him to

A man has claimed that demons told him to stab his girlfriend to death because she was a witch.

Robert McClure, 71, has been arrested and charged with the “depraved indifference murder” of 64-year-old Christine Miller at his apartment in Topsham, Maine, United States. According to local news outlet WGME, court documents show that when police arrived on the scene, he said he was hearing voices telling him about “witches and demons”.

Police were called to the building at the River Landing Apartment complex around 9.30am on Tuesday, November 21, after a report of a woman being stabbed was made. First responders confirmed Christine had been stabbed multiple times and was dead by the time they arrived. Witnesses later told police they saw McClure leaving the woman’s apartment with a knife in his hand.

Police say that while McClure was being arrested, he told them about witches and demons apparently living in the apartment complex. The property manager confirmed that other residents had already been complaining about McClure making statements about witches and threatening to burn the building down.

Reports also state that the manager told police that Miller and McClure were a couple and Miller was trying to get him to see a psychiatrist. According to the court documents, McClure told police: "I did stab that lady today.”

McClure told officers that voices told him that she was a witch and needed to die, the station reports. “The cause of death was sharp force injuries,” Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the department of public safety, stated – and she also ruled it officially as a homicide.

McClure appeared in court at a preliminary hearing on Monday – no date has yet been given for the trial, but he remains detained at Two Bridges Regional Jail.
