Airline passengers experienced the full force of Storm Babet as their plane touched down in the UK today, with a terrifying video showing a flight from Amsterdam caught in the system’s vicious vortex.
Footage posted to social media shows the moment Royal Dutch Airlines flight KL1441 attempted to land in Aberdeen today while being battered by the named storm’s near-hurricane-force winds.
A user on X, formerly known as Twitter, captured the plane as it was rocked by the winds, causing it to shake as it neared the ground.
The video shows the aircraft wobbling mid-air, but, in an impressive feat, pilots were still able to land.
The flight was one of several suffering difficulties today as Storm Babet made landfall in the UK, with airports warning that holidaymakers face disruption.

X user Steven Milne uploaded the video of his dramatic touchdown in Aberdeen to the platform this morning, showing the view out of his window as the plane swiftly descended onto a runway at the major airport.
Viewers can see the aircraft swaying from side to side on the way down, with the window showing a bleak picture of the outside world, including dark grey skies and flecks of water slapping against the glass.
The X user explained that he captured the plane’s second attempt to land in the Scottish city while quipping that “at least we know the brakes work”.
He wrote: “Second attempt at landing at Aberdeen Airport on this morning’s KLM flight from Amsterdam thanks to Storm Babet. Least we know the brakes work.”

The chaos experienced by travellers today likely wasn’t limited to those aboard flight KL1441, with Scottish airports having warned people to expect disruptions.
Aberdeen Airport had previously advised that weather warnings “may result in travel disruption”, and advised passengers to check with their airlines before flying.
Glasgow, Highlands and Islands, and Edinburgh airports all issued similar advice for travellers, with officials forced to cancel approximately 65 of 128 scheduled flights.
