Russia is now being run by the body double of “dying” Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the real leader “too ill” to take charge, a Kremlin source has claimed.
Putin is said to have fallen ill on Sunday (October 22) after suffering from a heart attack, according the General SVR Telegram channel. The channel, which claims to post information from a Kremlin insider, often talks about Putin’s supposed terminal conditions and has also sensationally claimed all the dictator's recent public appearances have been carried out by a body double.
And it is that body double which is now thought to be running the entire country, as allies scramble to plan the country's future after Putin's heart attack. The source claimed: “Yesterday, for the first time, the President's double was invited to take part in a meeting, which was held in a closed format, via video link.

“Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev was the initiator of the invitation to the President's backup to attend a meeting with representatives of the leadership of the security bloc.
“The Secretary of the Security Council justified this innovation by the fact that in any case the double will have to be privy to the nuances of the decisions that are made during such meetings, and if he is present, then the reasons for making decisions will become clear to him and he will be able to correctly and constructively argue in favour of these decisions . . . no one spoke out against it, and the Secretary of the Security Council said that for now operational meetings would be held in this format.”
The source went on to claim that Putin is now so ill that the double is basically in charge and will “represent” the President at all times, especially at “closed events”.

Despite the claims, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov was quick to shoot down the rumours. He said last night: “This belongs to the category of absurd information hoaxes that a whole series of media discuss with enviable tenacity – this evokes nothing but a smile.”
Peskov also called the news part of “absurd information hoaxes”.
